The average American couch is six years old. Its been used 36 times for naps, 32 times as a social space with family an d friends and 21 times for sick days, according to the data.The study also found how the average couch has been cried on 17 times and holds around nearly $2 in change between the cushions.Seventy-percent of Americans polled viewed their couch as comfortable, despite more than one-fifth complaining about the sofas appearance and how its outdated.The furniture you select are a reflection of how you want to feel in your living space. These pieces become a part of the everyday moments that truly make a living space your home, a spokesperson for Rove Concepts said.Furniture adultingWhether its Ikea or some other supplier, investing in permanent pieces of furniture is largely seen as a step toward adulthood. Participants in the study said at age 28 was the right time to invest in more permanent home pieces. Fifty-six percent were satisfied with just coffee and just a little over half said cer eal welches their go-to.Others enjoyed breakfast sandwiches (46%) and bacon (42%).Whether youre in a rush or simply cant stomach food early, skipping breakfast has been proven to have its disadvantages health-wise. A study in 2017 found that people who skip their first meal of the day have been associated with having higher cholesterol levels or even being heavier.Researchpublished earlier this year even linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular-related death.One expert recently told Ladders that skipping breakfast isnt the right move.Skipping breakfast is associated with increased disease risk - not only obesity but diabetes, heart disease, and just lower dietary quality, said registered dietitian Sharon Collison.The habits of breakfast eatersPeople who work in law, hotel and food services, and technology were found the most likely to skip breakfast daily, according to a recent study.As for people who do eat breakfast and prefer a savory type (like an egg), the study found the y tend to make more money, be night owls and prefer cats over dogs. The mindset of abundance, rather than that of scarcity, is more conducive for sustaining happiness.Once you understand this, it becomes a little clearer what companies can do to promote the happiness of employees. You need to help employees progress towards mastery - e.g., help them develop the set of skills and capabilities that are important to them. You also need to help them feel a sense of belonging or connection with other people in the firm, particularly the ones with whom they interact on a regular basis. Finally, you need to give them a sense of autonomy. In particular, findings show that employees are happier when they have concrete, unambiguously defined goals, but are given freedom on how to achieve them.One other thing companies can do is help nurture the abundance mindset.
